Sources: The PSL 2023 opening ceremony budget costs approximately 40 million Pakistani rupees. The last edition’s PSL 2022 opening cost only PKR 25 million. This year the mark increased because of the use of AR and VR technology at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Moreover, there were sky-shinning fireworks at the opening of PSL 8 which nearly cost PKR 5 million.

Additionally, the performers at the PSL 8 opening ceremony combined charges go as high as PKR 10 million. Moreover, the management and all the set-ups at the Multan Cricket Stadium cost 10 million Pakistani rupees. However, some other expenses like broadcasting and stadium maintenance take this budget to PKR 40 million.

In PSL 2021, the opening ceremony cost PKR 200 million because it was pre-recorded in Abu Dhabi. Because the world was going through the COVID-19 crisis, the Pakistan Cricket Board delivered a pre-recorded opening ceremony.

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology costs more than US$10,000 according to a famous international company survey. This technology has not been used in the live opening ceremonies of the Pakistan Super League. But this time, the PCB management team decided to level up their game.

Performers who showed their talent at the PSL 2023 opening ceremony include the following:

  • Asim Azhar
  • Aima Baig
  • Abdullah Siddique
  • Sahir Ali Bagga
  • Faris Shafi
  • Shae Gill
  • The Colony Dance Team

Expenses are getting higher as the days are passing. Every cost 200 times more than it was a year before. This might be the reason why the PSL 2023 opening ceremony budget touched PKR 40 million mark. However, Pakistan is going through the tough times it has ever faced. But PCB does not hold back in spending this much money on the inauguration ceremony of PSL 2023.
