PSL 2023: Karachi Kings Won the First Match

PSL 2023: Karachi Kings won the first match against Lahore Qalandars on Feb 19, 2023. However, it was the third match for Karachi Kings and the second for Lahore Qalandars. Qalandars won the toss and decided to bowl first. Karachi Kings got the chance to bat first and gave a target of 186 runs with the loss of four wickets.

Lahore Qalandars had already won the match against the Multan Sultans who are currently at the top. On the other hand, Karachi Kings had already lost two matches to Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United. So, it was their third match and they had to win the match as the stakes were too high. Because keeping their performance of PSL 2022 in mind, a third loss would have labeled them as losers of PSL.

Additionally, Lahore Qalandars had plans to control Karachi Kings’ batting and stop them near to 150 runs. But they were successfully unsuccessful in doing so because of their careless bowling. Even when they failed in bowling, the whole batting lineup of Lahore Qalandars concluded with 118 runs from 17.4 overs at the end. Hence, in PSL 2023, Karachi Kings won the first match.
